Gamemode arcade deathmatch

Deathmatch is an Arcade gamemode in Overwatch.

There are no objectives in Deathmatch; the goal is to reach 20 points before anyone else.

DetailsEdit

Contrary to other game modes, Deathmatch has no teams. Instead, 8 players will be competing amongst themselves to be the first to reach 20 points, and there is only 1 true winner.

Each final blow on an enemy is worth 1 point. Assists will not reward any points, and being killed by another player won't set back the player's score. However, if the player commits suicide in any way, they will be set back one point. The minimum score is not 0; a player who has been set back enough will have a negative score.

At the end of a match, Athena will announce the rank the player finished in for those among the top 4, while the other players will hear "Match Complete" rather than their rank. To earn a win toward the arcade Loot Boxes, players only need to be in the top 4 rather than be rank 1.

Château DeathmatchEdit

Chateau DM
During the initial release of Deathmatch, a special mode was available in the Arcade in place of standard Deathmatch, showing off the new map Château Guillard. This mode used the same rules as 8 player Free For All Deathmatch, but the only map in the rotation was Château Guillard.
