Damage Breakdown

Ability Ammo Fire Rate Damage Headshot Damage Heals per second

Peacekeeper (Alt-Fire) 1x6 6 rps 70 per shot (420 max) 140 per shot (840 max) -
Flashbang 1 - 25 (plus stun) - -

Strategy

His hitscan weapon allows him to easily pick off mobile and airborne enemies as accuracy allows.

Flashbang makes McCree the best ganker in the game, and the Flashbang -> Fan -> Combat Roll -> Fan combo can kill almost any enemy, including some tanks, before they can react. He's deadly at short range and one of the few heroes who can duel Reaper up close and come out on top.

Despite having the kit of a duelist, he's a situational flanker at best because of his lack of high mobility or escape skills. Because of this, he's often best positioned near his team's tank and support as a medium range skirmisher watching the flank for enemies try to slip behind him.

Deadeye is a powerful ultimate but is generally better at dispersing the enemy team than killing them in high-level play. The ideal time to activate is when the enemy team is disabled or without a barrier to block it.

Story

"Justice ain't gonna dispense itself."

Armed with his Peacekeeper revolver, the outlaw Jesse McCree doles out justice on his own terms.[1]

Peacekeeper

McCree had already made a name for himself as a member of the notorious Deadlock Gang, which trafficked in illicit weapons and military hardware throughout the American Southwest, when he and his associates were busted in an Overwatch sting operation. With his expert marksmanship and resourcefulness, he was given the choice between rotting in a maximum-security lockup or joining Blackwatch, Overwatch's covert ops division. He chose the latter.

Although he was initially cynical, he came to believe that he could make amends for his past sins by righting the injustices of the world. McCree appreciated the flexibility afforded to the clandestine Blackwatch, unhindered by bureaucracy and red tape. But as Overwatch's influence waned, rogue elements within Blackwatch sought to bring down the organization and turn it to their own ends. Wanting no part of the infighting, McCree set off alone and went underground.

He resurfaced several years later as a gunslinger for hire. But while McCree's talents are sought after by parties great and small, he fights only for causes he believes are just.[1]

Vigilante

The aftermath of the shootout

McCree made an appearance as a vigilante, thwarting a robbery attempt of a ramen shop. The media mainly focused on his "anochronistic fashion sense," though pundit Joel Marricone espoused the belief that McCree's vigilantism should be welcomed, given the high crime rate in the area.[2]
