A Play of the Game (or PotG) is an action taken by a player in a match that is determined, by an algorithm, to be game-changing. A Play of the Game is featured at the end of every match, and is shown in the perspective of the player who took the action.
In Competitive Play, a variant known as Play of the Match is shown instead; showing the most game-changing action in all of the games played within a match.
Types[ | ]
There are various types of PotGs:
- High Score: Features large killstreaks, multikills or environment kills.
- Lifesaver: Features actions taken to prevent the elimination of 1 or more teammates, such as killing the enemy Reinhardt who has just Earthshattered your team, or killing a Cassidy who has flashbanged a teammate.
- Shutdown: Features an action taken to eliminate an enemy while using their Ultimate ability, such as Cassidy's high noon, or Genji's Dragon Blade. Ana's Sleep Dart never counts as a shutdown, unless you actually kill the enemy with the dart.
- Sharpshooter: Features difficult kills, determined by speed, accuracy, and other factors.
