The Spawn Room is an area in every map in which all heroes in non-deathmatch game modes spawn and respawn in.

Overview[ | ]

While in their spawn room, the heroes heal at a rapid rate, and the player can choose to swap their heroes. Heroes cannot enter the opposing team's spawn room. As the match progresses, the spawn rooms may change locations in certain game modes:

  • In Assault, Escort and Hybrid game modes, whenever the attacking team captures the objective or reaches a checkpoint, both teams' spawn rooms will be moved to a new location closer the final destination.
  • In Push game mode, if a team reaches the checkpoint they will activate their forward spawn room, closer to the center of the map. The other team's spawn room will remain the same. The forward spawn will remain active until the opposing team pushes the robot back to the map's start location.
  • In Flashpoint game mode, both teams have two spawn rooms, one of which is active at a time depending on the location of the current Flashpoint.
  • In other game modes, the teams' spawn rooms will remain in the same location throughout the round.

Stranded spawns[ | ]

When an objective is captured and a team's spawn room moves, the previous spawn room remains partially active for 7 seconds.[1] The players in these stranded spawns cannot swap their hero, but the healing field will remain active and the spawn doors will remain locked for enemies. Additionally, the player may choose to instantly teleport to the team's new active spawn room by using the Interact key (default: F).

Trivia[ | ]

  • Spawn rooms come in varying forms: some take place in an Overwatch Vehicle (such as jet) while others are situated in a building at the start of the map.
