20% of the damage done to an enemy hero is given to Reaper as HP. Only damage done is restored, not potential damage done (i.e. If Reaper shoots a hero with 100 HP left and his shot was going to do 140 damage, Reaper will recover 20 HP instead of 28). Damaging barriers, turrets, built objects, etc. will not restore HP, only damaging heroes will. Reaper will recover HP regardless of his method of direct damage, meaning The Reaping works with Hellfire Shotguns, Quick Melee and Death Blossom. The Reaping will work the same way if multiple enemies are damaged instead of one.
As The Reaping is a healing ability, it will be blocked by an enemy Biotic Grenade, or powered up by a friendly one. While under the effect of a friendly Biotic Grenade, Reaper will recover 30% of damage done.
Damage modifiers will not change the % of damage done restored as HP, but it will change the amount of healing done, as Reaper's damage output will change. For example, with a Nano Boost backing him, Reaper's Hellfire Shotguns will be able to do a maximum of 420 headshot damage (up from 280), which is recovered as 84 HP (up from 56) provided the target has enough HP. Another example, this time with damage resistance: Reaper's maximum bodyshot damage against a Bastion boosted by Ironclad is 112 (down from 140), so he will recover 22.4 HP (down from 28) in that case.
